Loved this place. Nostalgic feel with friendly service and great food. Three adults and three kids, on a trip to Toronto when one of the kids suggested breakfast for lunch. Terrific idea, happy we stopped in here :)

Smashing IT! So glad to have found an authentic diner in Toronto. Avenue Open Kitchen is basically the last of it's kind. Great atmosphere. Great diner vibes and banter. I ordered the Chicken Club with Fries and the Fries reminded me back in the day when diner's where popular in Toronto. The Chicken was seasoned and tender. It almost had a tab bit of a Greek twist to it which I love! The Coffee is spectacular! Nestled in a real cozy side street off of Spadina and Brant Street. If you're look for some great food at some great prices then look no further than Avenue Open Kitchen! The Diner will remind you of home!

I love a good local greasy spoon. Firstly, the space is tiny, just a few booths and counter seats. And it’s no frills - a straightforward menu of diner classics cooked behind the counter. But the staff are friendly and the food is tasty and that’s all that matters. The smoked meat sandwiches were fantastic. Watching the potatoes being cooked, we couldn’t help but order a side of home fries. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be back when we’re in the area.

I have been coming to this diner since I moved to the city in 2018, and it is consistently delicious. Service is always quick and attentive - no matter how busy they are. For some people the staff may come across as 'rude' or 'curt' but it is more so their personality style. They are not trying to be your friends, they are trying to provide you efficient service. I would wager it is among the best service of any restaurant in Toronto and many establishments can learn from the staff here how to run a meal service properly. Food is always good. I normally come just for the breakfast and get their steak and eggs (for 20.99 which is a STEAL), which is always cooked to perfection. Portions are huge, and their dishes are the best priced meals in the entire city. Truthfully, you cannot go wrong with this place. It's homey, comfort food that's always satisfactory.

This place can get pretty busy, but we went at a good time and got seated right away. It is very small, but that's to be expected of a classic "hole in the wall" diner. I love this kind of place. I believe the sign said Since 1959. Classic. Original. At the counter, the grill is so close that you could help make your own breakfast. She had a classic breakfast (scramble and bacon). I had a BLT. Excellent. We normally like our bacon a bit more crispy, but with it being so busy, we didn't want to bother them with any special requests. The food was excellent and well priced. (32, included tip). We will definitely visit this place again.

It's fantastic to still see an old school diner in Downtown Toronto! I wasn't expecting to be in Toronto, but it turned out I had enough time to try this place. The coffee was great. The eggs, bacon and hash browns were perfect. Everyone working there was super friendly. Just great service. If you are ever in the Queen West - Spadina area, give this place a try.

Old style Diner and nothing greasy about this spoon. Ordered bacon & eggs and steak & eggs. Meaty bacon and a perfectly cooked, tender breakfast steak. Generous portions. The coffee is easy to take and the service is friendly. A few booths, one table for two and counter seating. One of those little gems with family tradition. Sorry it took me so long to find it.
